WCWL Reports

WCWL announces the release of its report on improving fairness of the health care system so that access to care would be timely and prioritized on the basis of urgency. This report describes how existing WCWL priority criteria scoring tools can be adapted to manage referrals from primary care to specialists. The report also describes how western regional health authorities and provinces have put these tools to use. Finally, it describes a method to develop waiting times based on patient urgency, and applies this in cataract removal surgery and hip and knee replacement surgery.
